Deep Blue Sea

Hey honeys! I decided to go for blue smokey eyes, but balanced it out with a soft highlight on the cheeks, and shimmery nude lips. I call this look "Deep Blue Sea." This look is dramatic, but soft at the same time. I want to admit and share some beauty secrets that I did to get this look. For the eye lids, I used a dark blue eyeliner, instead of using a base. And like with any base, after I set and pat it down with an eyeshadow powder in a similar dark blue shade. Always remember eyeliner can be used for more than one purpose other then lining the eyes! And for my cheeks, I used the same nude shimmery cream lip gloss that I used for my lips! (because I didn't have any blush/highlight/bronzer shade that was in the same shade category as my lip shade) I blended it out on my cheeks to make it look like a flush of highlight, then I set it with my foundation powder, to set it in place. And for my eyebrows, I filled them in using a small angled brush and powder eye shadow. Always remember that each make-up can be used as many other substitute make-up. For example, back in the day if you had no red blush, but your rocking red bold lips, you can lightly dot the red lipstick on your cheekbones and blend! And there you go, a lipstick and blush all in one. Always remember to be creative and think of things that you can use for multi-purposes, it's a plus because it saves money. Or instead of buying something that can be used as more then one thing, then you can buy the next best beauty treat you been dying to get. (lol) I hoped this helped honeys! Good night!

Go Green

"Go Green" is the popular phrase advice that is saving our economy. We are all told that we can save the Earth's environment by recycling, cleaning, cutting back on certain products, etc. When we do this, not only do we give back by preserving our surroundings, we also save money too. How do we go green in the beauty community? There are many answers, tips, and advice from the unique various gurus on youtube and here on blogspot. In this look I am going green by not using pricey top of the line make-up for my eyes, but instead using drugstore and sale make-up. Yes, the high line make-up has good quality. But with average priced make-up, you can make it look just as good. Always look out for deals, just always remember to go green!

Lush

Hey honeys! Today I just got back from Oahu, Hawaii, which is why I apologize for not updating new blogs these past couple of days. My mom and I flew out there and stayed for two days, not for vacation, but to find a place for me to live while I go to school there for the fall semester. After all the researching, and checking out places, we had some extra time to shop. Yesturday night, we went to Royal Hawaiian shopping center. The store "Lush" caught our eyes, because as we passed by, the sweet aroma lured us in. What also caught our attention in the display window, was the shapes of the soaps.(they looked like food and deserts) The employee, "Jolie", greeted us and pampered us with various hand scrubs, moisturizers, and soaps. She also gave us a little tour of the stores products. I learned that all Lush products are 100% organic and made of natural ingredients. I also learned that Lush products are good for you because they unlike other products, they don't contain alcohol, which is good so that your skin doesn't dry out.

I asked the other employee, "Chris", what facial cleanser and moisturizer did he suggest. He told me about "Grease Lightening", which I bought for $9.95. And explained to me how its a tea tree, witch hazel serum, that erases redness and intensely moisturizes dry areas. They also let me try the facial scrub on my hand. Jolie gave me a sample of the scrub, its called "Angels On Bareskin." I had a wonderful experience shopping at Lush, thank you so much Jolie and Chris!I love how these products smell, make my skin feel, and I already see instant results. Lush has so many unique cosmetics. If your ever in  Honolulu, Hawaii, check out the store, it is located on  2201 Kalakaua Ave., in the Royal Hawaiian shopping center. I recommend that you all check out your near by Lush store!

Jesse's Girl Cosmetics

Hey honeys! About two weekends ago, my family and I stopped in Irvine, California, on our way home from San Diego. We went to this little plaza to take a break, so I decided to go into Rite Aid and check out their cosmetics. I was so happy to see that they had a Jesse's Girl Cosmetic section! (I hate how only some Walgreen and Rite Aids carry this) I bought four eye dust pigments for $3.99 each. They work so good too! I suggest you use a base for your eyelid, before you put the pigment on, so that the color last, holds in place, and is more vibrant. Down below are sample swatches of the four colors. The first color starting from the bottom of the picture is called "Fruit Punch." The second is called "Pink Glitz." The third is called "Key Lime." And the fourth is called "Majestic Green." Check out the Jesse's Girl Cosmetics at www.jessesgirlcosmetics.com .

Random Pick: July 19th 2009

Here's the deal. My husband is always reading or wanting to know what I'm posting in my blog. I figured that I should involve him in my first contest/giveaway. Just to make him feel even more special, he's going to be the only judge. Oh, and my son will be involve too. He will be picking the random winner. I'll write everyone's name and toss it into a hat. He'll stick his little hands in and who ever he picks, wins. Anyways, here's how its going to go. He sometimes reads my posts on my blog and it gets a bit boring for him because he's a guy and he's not into my obsession with makeup and stuff. So let's give him something to read. My husband loves reading random facts, stories and/or jokes. Whether it's about a new video game for the Xbox 360 or another Chuck Norris joke or how you broke your nose by tripping on your own two feet. He wants to know it all. If your going to tell a fact, it has to be a true fact because we don't want the poor guy telling everyone a lie. Other then that, the story or joke can be your own or made up. Tell him something that he'll never forget. Making him laugh is a plus^^

Note:
*the 2 winners joke/story/fact will be posted when chosen.
*all e/s are sample size but I made sure a put a lot.
*I know I didn't put the names of the e/s and I will soon. I just want to start the contest/giveaway a.s.a.p.

Here is my entry:
My mom took this picture of me in Hawaii at sunset, back in April 2009.

"Long Lost Sandals"

From time to time, my dad always reminds and asks what is the earliest child hood memory that I remember. I always reply with the same answer, it was when I was four years old at Oahu, Hawaii. My parents and I where at Waikiki Beach, and they asked me to come into the water with them. At first I didn't want to because I was afraid someone was going to steal my new sandals. But later, I decided to join them, so I buried my sandals in the sand. When I got out of the water to look for them, they were gone! I tried to dig everywhere, but they were no where to be found! I was upset that I lost them and had to be barefooted for a while. My parents rescued me, and ended up buying me a new pair at a nearby shop. Every time I replay this memory with my parents, laughs and smiles always follow.

I remember how my dad told me that his mom's name was "Encarnicion." Her name means "flower." Unfortunately, I never got to meet her, but my relatives always tell me stories about her. They always tell me how I got the passion from her to do hair and make-up. And how she was a cosmetologist and had her own salon. My other grandma, who is my mom's mom, is named "Buena." Her name means "good." After she past away, I chose from the pile of her hand down jewelry, to keep as a memorable treasure. I chose a plumeria set. There are so many definitions for plumeria, but when I see them, I think of outspoken, unique, beauty. The plumeria is my favorite "flower" that smells so "good." Both of my grandmothers bring out the good flower in me. May they forever rest in paradise. And so, for good luck on special ocassions and performances I wear a flower in my hair for them to both be by my side.

The Hawaiian culture has left a trail throughout my life. When I was younger, for one of my birthday parties my mom threw me a luau party. She even had my cousin's bestfriend, perform hula and tahitian. Speaking of hula and tahitian, I remember when ,my friends and I joined a Hawaiian dance group. We had a fun time, especially the intense workout of tahitian. But after a while, we felt like we didn't fit in because most of the girls were pros and have been their for many years. We would try to keep up with the routine, but we were so lost because they would go over multiple routines in one class. We shouldv'e continued, but at the time we called it quit. What amazes my friends, is that until this day, I still remember the full lyrics of one of the hula songs that is in Hawaiian. Although this song is forever in my heart, I don't remember the title or who sung it. All I know is that I will bring this with me, so that I can discover the meaning of the translation, that has been trapped in me for so long.

In high school, one of my close friends let me borrow her pu'ilis, which are split bamboo sticks that are sometimes used in hula. Over the years, we have lost touch, I do miss her, and wonder every now and then, and think how is she doing. I still have her pu'ilis and plan to give it back to her when I reconnect with her in Oahu, which is where she lives and goes to school too. It's never too late to save a friendship, it just depends if there's an equal, mutual effort.

Over time my room has gone through many changes. About a year and a half ago, my mom remodeled my room and created a tropical theme. The paint and accessories are turquoise, which represents the ocean water. When you look around, you'll see a variety of floral prints. On my door, hangs colorful sarongs. And on my closet and drawers my mom stenciled and painted Hibiscus flowers. My room has made me realize that Hawaii is where I belong.

Many of my friends and family have asked me why I have to leave. I must go for many reasons. Some of my cousins and friends are dropping out, yes I love partying and being with them. But if I stay and try to save all of them, then I will get caught up behind too. I'm also doing this for them, so that when I come back, then they can see that if someone they love can do it, then they can too. I also have been dealing with a broken heart, and can't handle to be around this pain anymore. Before the incident, I was telling him how I wanted to move. He kept telling me that I should just stay and I'll find something I love to do here. If I was weak, I would have listened to him and stayed. But instead I do the opposite, and leave the shattered hopes to regain my strength.

Throughout the year in my life, I have met so many wonderful people that gave me memories, taught me lessons, and helped me prepare for this moment in life, to be set free... As I'm gathering my last pieces together, many people have been telling me how much they will miss me. This makes me realize how many lives I have impacted. As for my parents, I want to say "mahalo"(thank-you) for supporting me, raising me to be a woman, and allowing me to be let go into the world, to learn independence.

These past weeks, I have been praying to God, to lead me in the right path. He finally answered my prayers, when I received my college acceptance letter. Tears of nonstop joy, excitement, sadness, and all mixed emotions surfaced, as my path becomes known. Instead of saying good-bye, I say "Aloha". My friends will forever be with me in my heart. I know that within time we will be reunited again. Slowly, I start to feel my petals unfold my journey, where I am ready to bloom. It is official, fifteen years later, I am now going back to Oahu,Hawaii, not to find my long lost sandals, but to discover who I am.

Here's a picture of my bag that I bought at Forever 21 back in winter 2009:

This is a top open view of my bag, its so full! I carry everything in here, lol. People always tell me that I can survive with my bag, if I were to ever get lost or stranded.

Let me empty out my bag so you can see a close up of my traveling survival kit. I have my magazines for the month of July, to keep me updated on fashion, hair, make-up, love, and life. I'm recently reading a book by Steve Harvey called "Act Like A Lady Think Like A Man", that I borrowed from one of by best friends "Tracy".(every women should read this! you won't want to put it down! its the ultimate guide to understanding everything that happens in the dating and relationships) I also have a pink portfolio folder where I cut out old magazine pictures of fashion, hair, and make-up to make mini collages that will give me ideas for future glam ideas, my other best friend "Raye" inspired me to do this. I also have a notebook to write down lists like an organizer, to write poetry, and to have just in case to store any written information. I also have my mini labtop with the charger, so that I can take my computer with me on the go, to use at wi-fi spots. I also have my i-touch with the charger, where I store songs and pictures of make-up that I've done in the past. I always carry my camera to capture unforgettable memories. And I love my blackberry, the key board makes texting so easy, I never get tired of it. Here's a picture of all of my reading materials and electronics that I carry in my bag:

In my bag, I also have a wave spray enhancer by Garnier(to maintain sultry waves), frozen daquiri lotion by bath and body works(this smells so delicious!), tanning lotion sp4 by Hawaiian Tropic(lol that's like no protection right there, I just want to get tanner faster, love the coconut, floral scent), a toothbrush(just in case), chai and pomegrade green tea by Bigelow(my favorite, tasty flavors but not too strong), post it notes and a pen (to jot down quick notes), big sunglasses(to shade the eyes), a small coin purse(to store loose change), a pad(just in case again lol), my eye glass case(I only use my glasses to see the board, when I'm driving, or to see a far, other then that their stored in here!), my coach wallet(I have so many beauty club cards in here from Bare Esscentuals to Ulta, to Sally's Beauty Supply), and my keys(on the keychain I have a picture of my sister, a mini keychain, cheetah print nail file, a small keyshain Sally's Beauty card, a monkey keychain wristlet, and a usb memory card keychain, used to store pictures, videos, and written documents).

Here's a picture of my make-up bag:

In my make-up bag I mostly carry the make-up I use to touch up my make-up throughout the day. (the rest I leave at home) Here are my daily basics that I take with me: blotting paper(to delete excess oil and shine), eyeliner(for a smokey rimmed look), differ shades of pink lip gloss and lip sticks(pink is a pretty color), an eyelash curler,(to open up the eyes), tweezers(to pluck extra hair), a mirror(reflection to touch up make-up), a mini flash light(just in case the lights go out), hoop earrings(to accesorize), clips, pony tail, headband(to hold the hair together), comg and teasing comb,(to creat fine lines and volume at the crown), and a flower, vintage ring(love the classic style).

I know that seemed like a lot, but these are all the traveling goods that help me survive through everyday life. (lol)

Hair Dying Tips!

hey honeys! I just finished touching up my mom's roots. She's been asking me since last week to dye her white hair that has been growing in. But we've been busy with work and school. Today, I finally I got to help her with this hair beauty treatment. Although me and my mom have fought over the past years, in the end we always forgive and grow an even stronger bond. By doing her hair, its like giving back. Because she created me through love, and now I'm returning the love by helping her out. Here's a picture of the materials we used to re-touch her roots, and below it are some at-home-hair-dying-tips that all women/men should remember:

At-Home-Hair-Dying-Tips:

~ Before you dye your hair, rim the skin in front of your hair line with vaseline all around you head(so that hair dye doesn't get on your face/ears/neck, and if some does get on the vaseline, then it will be easier to remove and prevent from staining)

~ Before you dye your hair, take a plastic garbage bag and fold it in half(long ways), on the folded crease, use scissors to cut two inches down, then unfold the plastic garbage bag and on each side(about 3inches down), cut 2 inches horizontal into the plastic garbage bag, repeat this on the other side of the bag, then slip on the bag and slide your arms through the side cuts then your head through the middle cut

~ Not shown in the picture is latex gloves(use these to protect your hands from staining, and the perfect fit makes it easier to dye hair, the regular plastic ones slide, and are loose fitting)

~ Another item not shown in the picture is old newspapers(use this to put under your chair or below your feet to protect the floor from getting stained)

~ When your dying your hair, use a comb to help you section your hair equally so that you can go through each layer evenly and neatly, to make sure you get full coverage

~ Use clips to section hair (so that your hair is not all over the place, so you can focus on each section/layer one at a time

~ Always remember these tips, it's a must! :)

Grape Purple Nails

Hey honeys! Last, last weekend I went with my cuzzo Bobby to the mall because he had to return and exchange a shirt from Hot Topic. I was looking around the store, I love how its so colorful in there. Being in there reminds me of my youth. When you look around, you see old school cartoons, stickers, little fun gadgets, they even have a small cosmetic section! I notice that a lot of their make-up was glittery, bold, and affordable. I didn't get any make-up, but I did buy a nail polish for $2.99. There's no name for the nail polish, but the color is a deep purple with violet shimmer in it. The name should be "Grapes." (like the fruit lol) I'm not going to lie, to be honest this polish is.... here's the pros and cons, pros: cheap, shape of the bottle is unique, love deep shade, cons: i don't like how it goes on a little bit thick because the brush picks up too much polish and leaks, because its cheap, most likely it will peel so I recommend that you layer a top coat over the nail polish, Here's a picture of the final look of my nails with the nail polish:

My Fourth of July Weekend in L.A. and San Diego

hey honeys! Last Friday, my dad drove me and family to L.A. On the way to L.A., kookie(our family dog chihuahua) threw up on me in the car! Nice way to start the vacation huh? lol We finally arrived in L.A. early evening. We visited my grandma Cora and grandpa Lary, they are such a nice couple.(their actually my mama's friends but over the years they've become family to us) Granma Cora is such a cute little woman, with her shiny face that still contains youth.(her secret: she told me she uses papaya soap to wash her face) She is so unique too, she was wearing her earrings that she always wears.(real dime earrings, she told me she gets them custom made) She was stressing because she thought we were coming the next morning.(lol) So she was all over the kitchen, preparing food for us. She made a couple Filipino dishes and boiled crabs! (I love seafood!) While we were eating my grandpa Lary walked in, I love him he's always smiling and gives off such a postive vibe. He brought more food! (hey boo-fett...lol) Overall dinner was wonderful, catching up with them was fun, and the food was great! After dinner my untie Cathy walked in with her best friend.(they both live in frisko too, but we never run into them, that's weird) She is so cute, we was hellah choppin' it up, talking about hair and make-up on youtube and the beauty blogs. I was telling her how my favorite make-up artist on youtube is Ren Ren.(check her videos and beauty blog page out) She was telling me how one of her friend's is just like me, and loves to beauty blog.(shout out to Cathy's friend in Tennessee!) So she called her friend up, and told her to check out my page. I was also telling her how I love how through beauty blogging you can meet others beauty bloggers from all over the World. Its like a beauty community where we can relate to each other, get tips and advice from each other, and display and see eachother's creativity. Me and Cathy swapped numbers and pormised to hit eachother up when we in the bay. I'm going to dye her hair soon.(can't wait to see you Cathy!) That night my grandpa Lary insisted that we stay at a nearby hotel because it was getting late and my dad was too tired to drive to San Diego. On Saturday morning we were off to San Diego, which is a couple hours away from L.A. That afternoon, we arrived and stopped by the grocery store to bring food to my granma Delia and grandpa Siton's house. I was so happy to be there, we haven't visited in a couple years. San Diego is one of my favorite places ever since I was little. Going to San Diego is such a treat. The weather is beautiful, the big outdoor malls, and I love how the families live near eachother and are so close. After we ate, my uncle Gilbert and untie Jazz came and visited us. I missed them so much! It was cool catching up with them. They also brought their dog to named "Nikko."(his face is so adorable, like an old man lol) Kookie, Nikko, and Kobe(thats my uncles other dog who stays with gma and gpa) where all roaming in the backyard lol. My uncle told me to come sit with him, and we were talking about life. And I was telling him about going to school in Hawaii, majoring in psychology. He supported it, but he was telling me that I should major in something that I know I will love doing for the rest of my life. Because he was telling me how some people major in something, then later on discover that deep down inside their not truly happy, and end up going for their passion career. He kept telling me this because he could read and anaylze how much I love doing hair and make-up, by how I talk about it. After me and my uncle talked, I went inside to sit down. My grandpa Siton sat across from me, and began talking about my major, moving to Hawaii, and advice on life. He told me how proud he was that his three kids are all grown and successful, and all finished school with degrees. He told me that when each of them first left for college he warned them and told them that if your going to go away for school, then you better finish there. Because if they didn't, then they would be on their own.(this is so true, parents can support you, but it's up to you if you want to continue until you finish or withdraw and drop) He was explaining to me the same things my uncle was telling me earlier. He also included how I should know what I really want to do, so that I don't waste money and time. Because he knows two people from the family who majored in psychology, and both ended up not using the degree for a career because they didn't rise levels to the next degree. When he was talking to me, I just wanted to cry.(tears of joy) But I didn't cry, instead I held it in and took all his words of wisdom and stored it in my brain. This always happens to me, everytime someone older scolds me for the good, I want to cry, because their tone may seem mad, but really they do that because they care about me. That night for fourth of July, my family,my uncle, and my untie got in one car and drove to the nearby shopping plaza. We parking in the target parking lot. It was crowded, other cars were trying to find parking too. I think its so cute how the community gathers in the shopping parking lots to see the fireworks that are going off at a nearby highschool. Me and my mom kept laughing because we never did this before.(lol my untie took out mats and we was sitting on the side walk islands) Other people brought chairs and everything lol! The car that parked next to us, opened his car door and turned up the radio so we can hear the music too.(the music was assigned to match the fire works order) The fire works were so amazing! So colorful, bright, and 3-D, like explosive sky confetti. The fire works lasted for twenty minutes. After the show, we dropped my parents off at my gma and gpas house. Then my uncle and untie took me and sister out to see Transformers 2 in IMAX. That movie is so good, it was even better because the good quality, effects, and sound system of the IMAX. By the way I love Meaghan Fox!(so gorgeous!, this month I'll do a make-up inspired look dedicated to her) Thank you uncle Gilbert and untie Jazz! My sister and I came home hellah early in the morning, and knocked out. The next morning my untie Dell and my cousins Alyssa and Jadine visited us. My cousins are growing up! I remember when my sister and I could hold them, and now their taller, and the little one is so talkative now. Me and my sister took a lot of pictures with them their so cute(their Mexican and Filipino. i love that mix, their going to be beautiful women when they grow up) Down below is pictures of me, Alyssa, and Jadine.(Jadine is the little one) When it was time to say good-bye, my unite Dell and gma and gpa reminded me that if Hawaii doesn't work out, I can always come to San Diego and stay with them.(I love how their so welcoming ans supportive) As my family, was pulling out from the drive way our families exchanged waves and smiles with our relatives. I remember when I was younger, everytime I left San Diego I would cry, but now that I'm older I smile because time goes by fast, and next thing you know we will all be reunited together again.

Make-up Application Class Day 4

Hey honeys! I'm so sorry this is late. Last Thursday, when I got home from night class(make-up class), I had to get rest because on Friday morning my family and I took a road trip to L.A., then to San Diego. For our Make-up Application Class Day 4, our class basically had the whole period to practice what we did the day before(which was going from a day to an evening look by adding a couple steps). If we finished that, then we were allowed to put on false lashes. I live in San Francisco and take bus all the way to San Bruno for summer school, and I didn't want to take bus back because I have a day class, then have a four hour break before make-up night class. So, my cuzzo Bobby swooped up me and my friend Cheryl after summer school. I asked him if he can take us to Daiso because I forgot my lashes at home. So, I bought another pair lol. The set of lashes were only $2. They were #12, Voluminous type. Here's pictures of the lashes and my final look:

In the make-up class, I met "Liliane Prette." She's such a nice lady, observing how I do my make-up and commenting me saying "your make-up is amazing." She asked me to how to do smokey eye make-up, so I helped and showed her how to blend it out so that it doesn't look like a black eye.(lol) Here's two side pictures of the one eye I helped her with:

I also met a new friend named "Gabriela Choy." Its like a sign from God, that we were meant to be friends. Because on the first class, we were introducing ourselves to eachother. Right when I said my name, she told me that's her sisters name. And when I asked her what her name was, I replied that's my sisters name! We always sit next to eachother during make-up class and enjoy having eachothers company. She is so funny, always cracking me up! She always tells me that I'm her teacher and that she rather watch me put on make-up, so that she can pick up make-up tips. She is such a sweet heart, last class she put a Clinique Lip Gloss in my purse. The color is called "Angel Pink," its a pretty, pearly pink shade. Thank you so much Gabby! Here's pictures of the lip gloss and the sample swatch:

Make-up Application Class Day 3

Hey honeys! Last night, was the third Make-up Application Class. I promised you all that I would update you on what I've been learning, the last class(which was the second class, last Thursday) was the 1st day we brought in all of our make-up and started doing hands on application. Ms. Khalil picked a student and did a make-up demo on how to create a day look. After, we all got to play with make-up.(I'm so sorry i didn't take a picture of my creation that night, I'll re-create the look and post it up this weekend). For the third class (yesturday), Ms. Khalil picked a student to do a demo on how to do a day look, then she showed us how to turn it into a evening look by adding a couple more steps. After, we had make-up time to create an evening look, here's what I came up with:

M.A.C. Pro Store, Filmore, San Francisco

Hey ladies and gents! This past Tuesday, after summer school, I met with my friend Bianca and we took bus to Filmore Street in San Francisco, to go to the M.A.C Pro Store(picture down below). I've been wanting to go there forever, because only M.A.C Pro Stores sell the empty, fifteen eyeshadow colour palette.(picture down below, they don't sell these at M.A.C counters) Now I can stay organized with my eyeshadows through this eyeshadow palette holder. I I also bought an eyeshadow to add to my collection, its called "Aquadisiac," its a pretty shimmery teal color.(Picture down below, its the first eyeshadow in the open palette pic) This eyeshadow cost three dollars and fifty cents less then the original price because it was just the eyeshadow in the silver pan. Its cool because it already has a magnet in the back so I can just slip it into the shadow compartment, and the magnet sticks to the bottom. I love how this store isn't so crowded, and the make-up artists were really nice, excellent customer service. The make-up artist who helped me out is named "Railynne."(she's so pretty, she was wearing a make-up look that had a flush of pink, her eyeshadow had shimmery pink, her blush was a medium pink, and her lips were a nude pink) So if you ladies or gents ever in Filmore and stop by M.A.C and need help finding make-up, needa make-up done, or have questions please ask for her. Thank you so much Railynne!
